A little conviction on a chilly Thursday

I rode my motorcycle to work today.  It’s October in Indiana, so it’s starting to get past the “cool” temperatures, and delve in to the “cold.”  When you’re riding a motorcycle, you can count on the air feeling about 10-15 degrees cooler at any given time.  It was 45 when I left the house this morning.  I bundled up against it, but my hands were still a little stiff when I got here.

Since I couldn’t type right away, I decided to grab some coffee and hit the Apple.com Quicktime site to check out any new movie trailers that might be out.  I saw some really good stuff.  The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has my attention.  I like Brad Pitt, and I think this “Forest Gump” turn could be a good one for him.

A very good friend of mine is really into social justice.  The other day he was telling me about a movie called “Call & Response.”  I saw the trailer for it, so I thought I’d take a look.  Do yourself two favors:

  1. Go and watch the trailer here.
  2. Listen for the last spoken line in the video.

Do those two things, and then tell me what it makes you think.  I’ll be here waiting…

One Response

  1. I am not sure what I think about the statement “Justice is what love looks like in public”. Maybe I am on a shallow kick today but I am not sure of the connection between justice and love.

As for the content of the trailer I have to say I would rather ignore it…

That way I could be ignorant of helping drive the industry that this problem feeds off of. I wouldn’t have to consider the truth of this problem…

I seem to be able to disconnect this slave trade from my daughters much the same way I do with women and porn. I objectify them because I do not know them. If I did I would have the same outrage…but they are not my daughters….

Last but not least… have I or we forgotten that there is clear scripture in regards to this and it is scripture that we should fear? Luke 17:2.

I wonder if the millstone is smaller if we just have knowledge and do nothing….
