Rush-hour Therapy

I just got in to work on the west side of Indianapolis.  My commute takes me north on I-65 with a brief stint on I-465, and I have to say that traffic was especially manic today.  There were far more aggressive drivers than usual, and several were to the point of recklessness.
No joke, dear reader(s), [...]

Diversions

Netflix is great.  I really dig it.  Our current flick is disc 1 in the BBC’s “Plant Earth” series.  These are some seriously cool nature films; and I’m a guy who NEVER thought I’d use the words “seriously cool” and “nature film” in the same sentence.  But I don’t really want to talk about that.
During [...]

What Would Jesus Say?

I wonder.  If he were to come back today (not for the rapture, but maybe just for a quick visit), what would Jesus say to a church full of believers?
Imagine, if you will, you’re sitting in your favorite congregation.  The worship band just finished a set of deep, poignant and inspirational rock worship with just [...]

Some Music You Can Listen To

I have two good friends that I like to write music with.  One is Adam, who’s here with me.  The other is Matt, who’s on hiatus from ProfessionalCool.com.  Together, we form the super-trio MMA.  We have several good songs under our belts, and some demo quality recordings of those.  You can find our demos here: [...]

You’ll Never Believe THIS One…

There are actually Quakers here at Quaker Haven Camp.  I know, right?

So we’re eating breakfast, Adam and I.  We’re sitting at the staff table because it’s close to the food, and we needed to get ours quickly, and finish up to do a quick sound check.  I had some granola and a couple [...]

Wii Pray

So my buddy Adam and I are leading worship for a week of Sr. High church camp up in northern Indiana.  It’s really nice.  The facility is built on a lake, and is nestled into a bunch of trees.  It’s quite scenic, and I hope to partake of said lake sometime before the week is [...]

Must-read Blog

There’s this girl from my church.  She used to sing with some of our worship bands.  She’s a lawyer, and used to work for the city of Indy.  Her name’s Jill.  Several months ago, she took a job with a group that she had been talking with called International Justice Mission.  This group does the [...]

Agreeing vs. Believing

Recently, I’ve been involved with some loved-ones that (I’m sad to confess) I had previously not been as close to as I’d have liked to have been. During several conversations, I was able to flesh out some feelings that I’ve commonly held for quite some time now. The nutshell version is: there’s difference [...]

Next Ball

Winning or losing isn’t the point of the game… the game is the point of the game.
This year, I found myself in the position of de facto coach of my daughter’s soccer team. Without going into a lot of detail, it’s been a rough season. We haven’t won a game, and have only [...]

Who’s To Say?

I have a daughter. Because of this, I’ve read the children’s book “Madeline” about a boarding school (or high-class orphanage… I can’t tell) where 12 little girls strolled around town in two straight lines. Accompanied by their nun, Miss Clavel, they would take in the town, and have madcap adventures. Part of [...]
